Degen
Anyone know how degen works exactly?
can you stack it? so does conjure nightmare, and conjure phantasm stack? does it also stack with say poison, bleeding etc? there seems to be a diminishing return, just wondering thanks |

Poison, bleeding and other degen sources all stack to equal a net/total degen amount...Different conditions/spells that cause degeneration will all add separate amounts to the total, so using different kinds is an efficient way of putting pressure on those healing.
However, re-applying them won't stack. For instance, you can't poison someone twice to get double the degen; it just resets the time the poison will last for. |

The degen cap is 10, but if you have degen on someone that adds up to 13 and if that person has health regen on them the extra degen kicks in.
So if you have 13 degen on someone and they cast healing breeze and their HB does +5 regen. they would only have 8 degen on them. And if you apply the same condition or hex/spell twice it will not stack, but multiple conditons and hexes stack. Like poison and burning or conjure phantasm and conjure nightmare. And if 2 people apply the same hex/conditon it will not stack, so if 2 people both target the same foe and cast conjure phantasm on that foe he will only get the degen from one. Degen will stack in any form up to a effective total of 10.
The total however still is there it just isn't in effect untill the target gets a regen. So lets say you had skills that gave -4 from a condition and -3 from a skill and another -2 from a skill, you would have a total and a effective degen of -9. Lets say again you had degen from a condition of -4 and -3 from a skill and -6 from a skill you would have a total degen of -13 but a effective degen of -10 ( which is the max ) Lets say this target uses Troll Unguent with a effect of +7 regen then it would be as follow : -13 total degen and +7 regen equals a degen of -6 So it would not be -10 + +7 = -3 Hope you understood, in short any and all degen and regen is there for any ammount, but any above 10 is hidden until they get regen or degen. |

To systematize the answers:
All separate sources of health regeneration and degeneration stack, however, the end result is capped at +10 regen / -10 regen. Regarding the sources, it should be noted that you can only have one of the same effect on you. You either are bleeding or are not bleeding, you cannot bleed twice. Same applies to other effects. You can only have a single instance of a hex on you at the same time. For a detailed example: A character becomes diseased, then gets poisoned, hit with an additional poisoned attack, gets hexed with conjure phantasm, gets a Healing breeze enchantment from a friendly monk and then gets hexed with conjure phantasm again and is set on fire (burning) (not unlikely if the character is a tank ). -4: The character would first suffer the -4 degen from disease. -8: When poisoned, he would suffer an additional -4 from poison, making a total of -8 degen. -10 (-13): The conjure phantasm hex would make the total degeneraion -13, however, this is capped at -10. -5: The healing breeze adds +8 health regeneration, which would be deducted from the total of -13 (even though it only caused -10 in effect) for a -5 degen. -5: The second Conjure phantasm hex on the character cannot coexist with the previous one. -10 (-12): Burning adds an additional -7 degen, resulting in -12 degeneration, which again is limited to a maximum of -10. In practice, health degeneration is not considered a good source of damage due to this limit, as the limit lowers the maximum Damage Per Second to 20DPS, which would take 20 seconds to kill a 400 HP moster. Usually, a character will be able to inflict much more damage using direct damage skills. Edit: forgot Disease is -4 degen, not -3, requiring a fix to the calculations.
